Sokrates in his kitchen -IV

[In hushed voice, to Plato:]

‘She showed me in the walls there

An aerial attack on a

Towering cityscape of horrors

[Xanthippe serves tea, touching Plato’s shoulder.]

Explosions and people leaping to their death -

Like Apollo’s chariot twinned in evil…

Amidst that, a reporter of truth

Like our philosophers, Herodotus maybe, she

Tells of Building #7’s collapse

But it still stands!

All gleaming 47 stories visibly untoppled!

That philosopher was corrected by her superiors..’

[Xanthippe:] ‘Her?’

[Sokrates:] ‘Yes, but much later that day — it fell!

It seems, Plato, in the future

Their philosophers perceive truth beyond Time!’

[Plato:] ‘Tomorrow, my friend, they’re going to kill you.’
